The short answer

Some Automower models can be rinsed with a hose; others should be brushed and wiped. The mower and charging station may have different permissions. A pressure washer is not an alternative to a garden hose.

Applies toSelected Husqvarna Automower families listed below. Model names, generation, and the station’s own instructions matter. This is not a blade-replacement guide.

The suffix matters: a 430X and a 430X NERA do not have identical cleaning instructions. Find the full name on the product label, then match it to the appropriate manual. Treat the examples below as a starting point, not a list of every Automower.

01Start with the exact model

These examples come from the manuals linked below. “Hose permitted” means an ordinary garden hose used according to the manual, never a pressure washer. Where the model is uncertain, identify it before applying water.

02Clear grass before doing anything more

With the mower switched off and gloves on, remove loose clippings and use a soft brush around the wheels and underside, positioning the mower as its manual directs. Keep your hands clear of blade edges.

The non-NERA 420/430X/440/450X manual specifies brush cleaning around the blade disc and a damp cloth with mild soap for the body. It also calls for checking that blades are intact and can move freely. Follow the matching manual if yours is a different model.

The check

Look for trapped grass, visible blade damage, and material around the wheels. Do not force a jammed part.

What did you find?

Only removable grass is present

Next stepRemove it gently, then recheck the area before reassembly.

A blade is damaged or movement remains obstructed

Next stepStop this cleaning routine. Use the model-specific replacement procedure or ask for service before mowing.

03Use a hose only when it is permitted

The manual for the listed 305/310 Mark II/315 Mark II models permits running water on the mower. It separately prohibits running water on their charging station. This is why “the mower is washable” is not enough information to clean the whole installation.

If body removal is necessary, use the exact model’s removal and reassembly instructions. In the 2026 manual, correct positioning of cable grommets after body removal is part of the moisture seal. Do not improvise disassembly to reach a dirty area.

What did you find?

Your manual explicitly permits a hose

Next stepFollow its cleaning directions and restrictions. Do not use high pressure or solvents.

The model or water permission is unclear

Next stepUse the appropriate brush-and-cloth method while you locate the correct manual.

04Clean the station as a separate item

Disconnect the supply and remove objects that could obstruct docking. The NERA manual listed above permits a brush or garden hose on its charging station; the two other manuals in the comparison do not permit running water there.

Husqvarna’s current support page also distinguishes mower-only water cleaning from models whose stations can be rinsed. Check the station type if it has been replaced or does not match the mower’s original equipment.

The check

Inspect for accumulated grass, damaged contacts, and cable damage before returning the station to use.

What did you find?

The station is clean and undamaged

Next stepComplete reassembly and reconnection according to the manual, then check docking during normal operation.

Contacts or wiring appear damaged

Next stepLeave damaged equipment out of use and arrange support. More cleaning is not a repair for damaged parts.

05Finish with a useful maintenance note

Record the date, the method used, and any wear you noticed. This simple YardOnAuto note helps distinguish a recurring mechanical problem from ordinary grass build-up at the next clean.

  • Full model name and manual used.
  • Any damage, obstruction, or part that needs attention.
  • Whether normal docking and operation resumed.

06Worked case: make a cleaning plan for two separate items

Illustrative scenario: the mower is dirty underneath, while the station has grass around its contacts. A quick search says that a related model can be washed. Before choosing a method, write the exact mower model on one line and the station model on another. Record what each manual permits. Permission for the mower does not fill the blank for the station.

A useful cleaning record has three stages: what you saw, what you removed using the approved method, and what remains afterwards. Photograph packed grass before removing it. If a wheel still resists movement once accessible debris is gone, that is a different result from a wheel that becomes free. It gives a servicing technician a specific symptom rather than an assumption that more water will help.

Do not turn cleaning into a trial of new repair methods. An unfamiliar noise, visible damage or a component that remains stuck belongs on the unresolved list. Reassemble only as the manual directs and compare the next normal run with the starting observation. A clean exterior alone does not establish that the machine is ready to work.
